Browns Brandon Weeden Takes A Severe Beating By A Colt McCoy Clone Named Kirk Cousins

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Brandon Weeden Sucked against the RedskinsBrowns 29-year-old rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden showed the home town fans who attended the last home game of the regular season he still can't win the tough games. Weeden did something most fans thought he outgrew, he threw a couple of interceptions in the game that helped the Washington Redskins in their cause to make the play-offs this season.

The fans who wished to see Colt McCoy this season got the next best thing today. The fans were able to witness first hand the kind of play McCoy would have been capable of this season. Kirk Cousins another guy who has huge success in his college career was able to roll out of the pocket all day long to find his open receivers while doing his McCoy impersonation.
Weeden struggled again in the first half of the game.

The Browns defense which has played great in the 2012 season help the Browns do something that Weeden failed to do, they got the Browns into the red zone to help Richardson score the first of his 2 touchdowns. Weeden continues to show he is incapable of making good decisions. He struggled against a defense that is not rated very highly this season in the NFL and Weeden continued failing to convert on 3rd down. The Browns were only 4-12 in 3rd down conversions.

Brandon Weeden fails to demonstrate the kind of consistency it takes to win in the N.F.L. Weeden who was drafted 22 overall in the first round of the 2012 N.F.L. draft was out played by a guy that wasn't taken until the 4th round in the 2012 draft. In his first rookie start at quarterback, Kirk Cousins outplayed Brandon Weeden by leaps and bounds. Cousins out played Weeden who has started every game this season for Cleveland. This is a further example of why Tom Heckert didn't want to take Brandon Weeden as the Browns other first round draft pick. Weeden got beat by a back up rookie quarterback that was starting his first game.

It was almost humorous to hear the television commentators talk about the Cleveland Browns being in the hunt for the play-offs. Obviously they haven't see Mr. Weeden play in a game when he has tough competition.  Sure the Cleveland Browns won three games in a row, the competition level was no where near what it was today.

Brandon Weeden is a great athlete, he has already failed at a M.L.B. career and he continues to struggle with his N.F.L. career. He can't compete against a well organized team that doesn't make a ton of mistakes to hand the Browns the win. Weeden continues to miss wide open receivers and his accuracy that we heard about leave little to be desired. There is a reason Brandon Weeden couldn't make it as a M.L.B. Pitcher and we continue to see that wildness with his throws in the N.F.L.

Yes Brandon Weeden is a rookie. He faced a rookie today that hasn't even started a game until today. So wake up people and realize there was a reason Heckert didn't want to take Weeden. We are seeing in every game when the going gets tough. Brandon Weeden only completed 21 of the 35 passes he threw for 244 yards. The guy is not the future of the Cleveland Browns offense.

He has 13 more starts than Cousins and he still couldn't get his team a win when it mattered. His mistakes continue to coat the Cleveland Browns wins....To sum it all up Weeden made major mistakes today, those mistakes just cost the Browns a run at the play offs.....

Browns Montario Hardesty 10 Rushes For 52 Yards Trent Richardson 18 For 42 What's This Tell Ya?

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Montario Hardesty Out Rushes T-RichThe Cleveland Browns veteran running back Montario Hardesty continues to help the Cleveland Browns move the football when the Browns need it to control the game. Trent Richardson continues to struggle only rushing for 42 yards today on 18 carries.

The Numbers speak for themselves. The Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurnur continues to display why he shouldn't be considered as the Cleveland Browns head coach in the coming season. It was Pat Shurmur who made the decision to  play Trent Richardson after he came back from having his knee surgically repaired in the preseason. Shurmur should not have pushed Richardson and should have used Hardesty more often earlier in the season.

Maybe with Hardesty's efforts the Browns would be 8-5 instead of 5-8 right now, who knows?
The Cleveland Browns are one of the worse teams in the N.F.L. when it comes to 3rd down efficiency, even though the Browns beat the Chiefs today Cleveland only converted on third down 5 times out of the  15 times they faced it. When you have a guy like Montario Hardesty on your team you use him. The Browns played some of the teams best football throughout the teams history using 2 backs in the backfield. Anyone who knows the history of the Cleveland Browns knows they won a lot of football games with 2 good ball carriers.

The explosive-ness of Montario Hardesty cannot be ignored. There are plenty of teams in the NFL probably wishing they had a guy that can run in the NFL like Hardesty and if you have a player on your team  like him you play him. He has more than doubled the average of Trent Richardson today and his long run was also more than double of Trent Richardson's long run as well.

Why the Cleveland Browns didn't turn to using Hardesty earlier this season is anyone's guess. You can certainly see the guy is worth having on your team. Using Hardesty would have helped Trent Richardson in his rookie season, especially with the injuries Richardson brought to camp with him and the rib injury he suffered this season.

The Cleveland Browns Exposed Just How Bad Crennel's Chiefs Really Are

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Romeo Crennel's Chiefs SuckThe Cleveland Browns just picked up the teams fifth win of the 2012 season beating the Kansas City Chiefs today to expose just how bad of a football team the Chiefs really are.

The Browns didn't do much in the first half of the football game, they only converted 2 of 8 third downs. The Browns couldn't score an offensive touchdown in the first half of the game. Brandon Weeden went 17 of 30 for 217 yards on the day and couldn't complete one touchdown pass into the end zone even though he had multiple chances to do so.

The Cleveland Browns got their 5th win eclipsing their 2011 win total by one. The Browns still have got plenty of work to do to become a football team to be taken seriously in the AFC North. Cleveland still had plenty of bad offensive play calls on 3rd and long. People all over the Cleveland area are already starting to think Pat Shurmur needs to return as the Browns head coach in 2013.     The Kansas City Chiefs are a team that give up an average of 30 points a game this season, the Cleveland Browns met that average today and the Chiefs are a bad football team.

Momentum in the game changed when Cleveland had Travis Benjamin return a punt and it was taken in for the Browns only touchdown in the first half. The Cleveland Browns continue to be one of the worst teams in the NFL Red-zone, the team has to work hard to improve that stat, Cleveland has three games left this season and the Browns would get this city into a frenzy if they could win out the remaining games. The Browns face the Steelers, the Redskins and the Denver Broncos in the next three weeks.

If the Browns beat any of these three teams I would finally think the team is moving into the right direction. As of right now the jury is still out. I see a lot of room for improvement and any one who is honest has to see some of the same. But right now lets take time to celebrate  the win.....

How Much Bad Blood Is There For The Peyton Hillis Return To Cleveland Browns Stadium Sunday?

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Joe Thomas & Peyton HillisBrowns all pro Line-Man Joe Thomas and the Kansas City Chiefs running back Peyton Hillis have taken turns exchanging jabs through the Media this week. Neither guy had kind words to exchange towards each other.

Thomas said Hillis was toxic in the Browns locker room and on the field and the team and the players didn't want him here and Hillis said Thomas is acting like an old girlfriend you break up with. The question now becomes what kind of welcome back Browns fans will give the guy they helped put on the Madden Cover?

The Cleveland Browns take on the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday in game that not only sees the return of a former Browns running back it will also feature  a former Cleveland Head coach in Romeo Crennel, a former Cleveland quarterback with Brady Quinn and a pass rush that can take Weeden off his game in a heart beat. This match up has all the making of a WWE grudge match. Things could get ugly quick in this contest. Neither team has any love loss for one another. The Chiefs and the Browns are coming off wins and for the Browns a win would mean 3 in a row for a team that has struggled to find 4 wins this season.

You can bet on the fact that Romeo Crennel and his Chiefs want this one. The Kansas City defense is going to bring the pressure and for Joe Thomas and the rest of his offensive line-men they are going to have plenty to deal with in protecting their quarterback. I think they should start to focus on their protection schemes and spend less time worrying about how toxic Hillis was in the Browns locker room. The Browns offensive line will be tested in this one. Brandon Weeden's health depends on the offensive line being able to provide protection. It is time to take it to the field Joe Thomas.

Brandon Weeden Leads The Cleveland Browns To The Teams 8th Loss of The Season Working Overtime To Get It

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Brandon Weeden Gets his 8th lossThe Cleveland Browns suffered their 8th loss of the season with Brandon Weeden as the teams starting quarterback. For many they are still waiting to see the highly accurate throwing arm Weeden is suppose to possess, Weeden did lead the Browns into the end-zone in the first quarter in Dallas.

Anyone who says Cleveland doesn't have a good crew of receivers must not have watched this game. The Browns receivers were reeling in every wild pitch Brandon Weeden threw on that touchdown drive. Greg Little went high into the air and made a fantastic grab using his finger tips, Ben Watson made a great leaping catch in the end-zone to get the score and  Josh Gordon made a grab that no one his size should have been able to catch.

Brandon Weeden is showing signs of improvement as the Browns starting quarterback, there
is no doubt about that. The doubts come into play as to whether or not Weeden is the guy that can lead the Cleveland Browns to the top of the AFC North. The Cleveland Browns played a not so good Dallas Cowboys team today. Brandon Weeden missed  on 15 of his throws. The receivers are doing a better job at catching Weeden's passes but it is Brandon Weeden's accuracy that needs improvement. If the Cowboys defense was able to hold on to the football Weeden would have thrown 3 interceptions today. He is lucky they couldn't otherwise Weeden would be leading the NFL in pics this season.

The other thing that bothers me about Brandon Weeden is the fact he couldn't capitalize on the lead the Browns had over the Dallas Cowboys. Weeden failed to find the end zone again for the Cleveland Browns until the 4th quarter. If the Browns were able to move the ball up and down the field and find the end-zone the way they should with an ace quarterback they would have been able to bury the Cowboys today. The Cleveland Browns couldn't even get a field goal in the 3rd quarter today. Brandon Weeden couldn't move his Cleveland Browns team into field goal range for an entire 15 minutes in a game the Browns were leading in. Why Not?

Brandon Weeden continues to miss wide open receivers with throws we see every other quarterback make in the NFL. Why can't a guy who was suppose to have such an accurate arm make those throws? There are times when Brandon Weeden looks like an NFL quarterback who can move his team and there are times he look terrible. When can we expect Brandon Weeden to become the kind of quarterback we see winning teams have?

If the referees didn't blow the call when they called the Cowboys for a horse collar on Cribbs in the 4th quarter to put the Browns into great position to score, I wonder if Weeden would have been able to ever find the end-zone again in the game. The guy has to do a better job getting his team up and down the field. The Browns are not going to win many football games unless Weeden can become more consistent.

Weeden's final numbers for today's loss to the Cowboys were 20 of 35 for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns. That is 15 in-complete passes he threw. Weeden is not clutch at all. He can't get it done when he has too. He is nothing special and at the very best will have an average career in the NFL at best.  His average yards per completion is only .1 better than Colt McCoy's. Now listen people I am not saying McCoy should be the starter, I am simply using his stat from last season as a comparison.  Being only .1 yard per completion isn't that good for a guy to take another s job in my book.

Now for the Browns defense. Today they looked like the old Oakland Raiders defense with all the penalties they took in the game. The Browns defense did one heck of a job in the first half holding the Dallas Cowboys to nothing. You cannot expect a defense to get your team every win on the season. The Browns defense did what they could today to get a win for the team. The secondary is short-handed and the team has no depth in the secondary. The Browns offense needs to be able to control the football game a lot better than they do at times. The Cleveland Browns almost got it right today. Weeden needs to be able to make clutch plays if he wants to continue in the NFL.

70% of Browns fans aren't sold on Brandon Weeden being the Browns future. The Browns president Joe Banner came out during the bye week and said the team will look at Weeden's last 7 games to make a decision on Weeden's future. The team can't win a game that they held a 13-0 win over a team that isn't very good. The Browns aren't showing much promise as the season starts winding down.  The Cleveland Sports fans just got to witness another losing season. What else is new.

Cleveland State Vikings Basketball 2012-2013 Season Preview

By Brett Crow, Staff Reporter

The Cleveland Cavaliers aren’t the only basketball team worth talking about it in Cleveland. Since 2006, Gary Waters has coached the men’s basketball Cleveland State Vikings to multiple NIT Tournament appearances and an NCAA Tournament bid, feats not accomplished with Cleveland State since the late 1980’s.

Gary Waters took the time to sit down with Jerry Mires of the Sports Fix this past weekend for an exclusive interview and give a preview of what to expect with the 2012-2013 Vikings campaign.

Right off the bat, Waters made no secret that he was extremely excited for the new season. “I’m always excited about basketball,” spoke Waters jovially, “and at the beginning, you’re very excited because you’re undefeated!”

Excitement certainly seemed to be the theme with Waters as he discussed his very young and talented roster: “I’m excited about them because they rejuvenate you and also they’re a talented group of young men, that’s what’s unique about them.”

“We’re excited about the direction of the program,” added Waters. “I think now we’ve established a culture. If you can’t fit in this culture with your abilities, how hard you play, and how disciplined you are, then we really don’t recruit you.”

The culture of coach Waters has been one of success, as he has a 122-82 record as coach of the CSU Vikings. It’s a stark contrast to the coach before Waters, Mike Garland, who sported a record of 23-60 during his tenure there. It’s a culture that the Viking’s group of nine freshmen and sophomore are likely to learn quickly.

One such sophomore is Anton Grady, the 6’8” sophomore forward who excelled last year and was named to the 2nd Team in the Preseason Horizon League team. “He’s really improve and is a great kid to coach. He’s a coachable player, and he really wants to be coached.”

“They’re young,” said Waters laughing when asked about what he had learned about his young team thus far. “We got a ways to go. When you’re young, your biggest area of concern is on the defensive end. So we got to get them right in that area. I can see that they like to run, this is a running team.”

“This is the most athletic team I’ve had. These guys are long and athletic,” said Waters of his team, offering high praise to his young crop of players.

Marlin Mason was one player in particular that Waters spoke very highly of. The 6’6” forward from Cass Tech High School was a redshirt who ended up playing last year due to injuries in the lineup. He had his arguably best game against Detroit last year with a career 15 points and nine rebounds.

The conversation then turned to the recruiting process: “You take someone like Junior Lomomba, he is as good a recruit as you can get. He was a top 100, and it came down to us, UCLA, and Washington and it tells you how good of a player he is. He’s a next level recruit. And we also have someone like Aaron Scales who had signed early with Missouri. These kids are one day going to be showing who they are at Cleveland State.”

The newly found national recognition was the next topic on the slate, as the Vikings head coach was asked about being in the preseason NIT: “We start out against Bowling Green, and if we’re fortunate enough to win that game, we move forward and play Michigan on their home court. We’re looking forward to that.”

The regular season is always the main concern though, especially playing games within your division. The Horizon League has suffered a small shake-up though with the mid-major school Butler leaving the Horizon League conference for the Atlantic 10.

“It’s going to hurt something because they establish their name. But what you need to remember is a year ago, they came in fourth. And they didn’t have one player on the All League team. So when you think about that, I won’t say they were going backwards, but they weren’t at the top of the league,” said Waters about Butler’s departure.

Waters was quick to remove any idea that he didn’t respect Butler: “Think about what they did, going to two Final Fours...There’s not many teams in America who can do that. What they did is, they raised the level of the Horizon League. Even though they left, they raised it to a level now that’s going to stay regardless if they are here or not.”

Who is to blame for the Ravens loss, Pt 2... PAT PAT PAT!

I'll have my positive notes of the game later, but I want to hear from Browns fans everywhere.. Who do you blame for yesterdays loss to the Ravens? There is no doubt in my mind, the man to blame, is the same one who can be blamed for alot of this teams problems, and thats Pat Shurmer. Allow me to list the reasons why...  1) Who allows their team to come out as unmotivated and unready to play against a 5-2 1st place rival team as we did yesterday (and do quite often under Shurmer)?... 2) He continues to mismanage the clock, timeouts and mishandle game situations. Case in point, the end of the 1st half. The Browns D made a great stop after yet another FG, and got the ball back, down 14-9 with 1:09 left. They only had 1 timeout to work with, because Pat wasted 2 in a 1 min span early in the 2nd quarter foolishly, btw. Then, Pat runs the ball for a yard on 1st down, apparently not trying to score, but run out the clock, because he allows the team to slowly set up and tick 30 secs off the clock, before someone tells Pat (maybe the booing in the stadium told him) that perhaps he should at least try to score. Then, because he mismanaged the drive and the clock, he never had to use the TO because he only had time to barely get in range for another FG, instead of taking a few shots from the 6 yd line where we ended up, Pat has to decide, either were running it out, or going for it, you cant change your mind, MID STREAM, or you get what we had here yesterday, and all too much in general... Then in the 2nd half, we got dose after dose of the famous 3rd and 7, lets run a 2yd pass, happened countless times again, and the Browns do this more than any team in football on a weekly basis... Penalties are a sign of bad team discipline and coaching, no excuse for back to back false starts to push a red zone offense back 10 yds, or how about the illegal formation that wiped the TD off the board... Also, when Weeden clearly was playing terribly, and he nearly throws the ball right to Ed Reed (whos that? You mean we should avoid him? Tomfoolery!), so what does Pat do next? Has him throw the ball again the next play, and of course he presses and throws a terrible pick with no one near him... (Weeden also missed a half dozen WIDE OPEN receivers throughout the game, too busy looking for the dump pass, which increases QB and offensive efficiency numbers for people who need all the stats they can get to keep jobs)... Then even after all of that, the Browns still were within a TD with 4 mins left and reached a deep in the wrong end of the field 4th down. Of course, after being criticized for not going for it on more favorable 4th down situations this year, Pat chose a terrible on to show us all look, ill go for it on 4th down, ON MY OWN END OF THE FIELD. Thanks Pat! Instead of letting your defense stop them and get the ball back with 2 mins to go (theres really no choice there), lets run a terrible 4th down play, turn over the automatic Raven FG and seal a 10 pt loss... This one was winnable, the fans who sat through this whole season, and froze through yesterdays game once again got the short end of the stick... Oh and the Browns overaggressive and ridiculously stupid security struck again at the end of the game, but ill talk much more about this later... Jimmy Haslam, fix your media relations dept, fix your overzealous rnat a cop security force who treat your paying customers like crap, and replace this moron of a head coach... Face It Brandon Weeden Is One Heck Of An Athlete But He is Not The Real McCoy Has No Heart Try The PGA Tour

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Brandon Weeden GolfBrandon Weeden is one heck of a great athlete, lets face it you don't get drafted into the M.L.B. to the New York Yankees or to the Cleveland Browns if you have no athletic ability. The problem with Brandon Weeden is he has no heart, he is afraid to take a hit and when he faces any kind of pressure he folds.

He couldn't make it in major league baseball and he sure isn't able to cut the mustard in the N.F.L. as a starting quarterback, this leaves the P.G.A. tour. Weeden is said to play one heck of a good round of golf. Perhaps he should pursue a career on the PGA tour.    Lets face it, after what we saw today it is clear Weeden is not the real McCoy when it comes to playing in the N.F.L.. I told everyone in the preseason Brandon Weeden sucked as an N.F.L. quarterback and we all saw it again today. I took all kinds of flack for saying it in the preseason and I am still taking all kinds of flack now.

If you know football, you know it isn't often when an N.F.L. caliber quarterback misses wide open receivers who don't have any defenders within five yards of them stopping them from making a catch that offten, Brandon Weeden made a habit out of doing that in the Ravens game today. He didn't only miss one or two passes to wide open guys he couldn't  even find them half the time. The Browns had a real chance to win the game today. After losing to the Baltimore Ravens over the past five years, the Browns needed to jump on the opportunity to get a win today. Because of Brandon Weeden's lack of commitment to making plays the Cleveland Browns came away with yet another loss.

Who is this guy trying to fool? HE is afraid out on the field. When you play scared you can't get the job done. That was the case today and it was the case in Brandon Weedens very first game in the NFL. There is no other rookie quarterback in the NFL playing as poorly as Brandon Weeden.  I don't care what kind of excuses the Weeden lovers are going to make for this guy, it is time for a change in Cleveland. It is time to place Colt McCoy into the starting line up to see if this young team can win some football games.

Weeden could still register for Q school on the PGA tour if he gets out now. This way his huge ego can be satisfied and the good people in the City of Cleveland may be able to see some winning football games. It is time for the Browns new owner to step in and demand better of his  1.1 billion dollar football team the good people of Cleveland are paying for.
Weeden lacks the heart to get the job done and we all know one thing. At least the kid from Texas has heart. Give him a freaking chance we are sick and tired of seeing losing football in Cleveland....

Hey You Colt McCoy Haters Including You Denny Dice, The NFL Trade Deadline Passes & McCoy Still In Cleveland

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

McCoy not traded The 2012 N.F.L. Trade deadline has passed and the man who the Browns blamed for all their problems in 2011 is still a member of the Cleveland Browns. There were lots of people who said McCoy would be traded by the Browns, how stupid is that statement?

The Browns know better than to trade Colt McCoy, they would be left without a viable back-up quarterback that give the Browns a shot at winning football games.  The fans have been brain-washed by Pat Shurmur's attempt to place all the blame for his terrible rookie season as a head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Rather than take the blame for his on lack of abilities to use any imagination as a head coach, Shurmur made a quarterback switch so it would look as though all the Browns problems were because they didn't have a good quarterback.

These same fans fell for the bait and switch and have come to hate McCoy. They say McCoy plays a dink and dunk offense and that is all he is good for, they say McCoy doesn't have the arm strength to complete long passes in the NFL. These people don't recall the Injury McCoy suffered in the BCS bowl that damaged McCoy's throwing arm. Well guess what people, the Cleveland Browns aren't exactly ripping it up this season either.  They have a new quarterback who has a 1/2 yard longer passing average than McCoy had in 2011 and fewer wins so far in the 2012 season.

The problem's with the Cleveland Browns in 2011 weren't because of Colt McCoy. The play calling which still stinks in 2012 was done by Shurmur in 2011 and he still has no imagination. Sure the Browns completed a few long passes this season. The entire receiving core of the Browns looks a bit different this season. The only thing that really resembles the 2011 Cleveland Browns is the win-loss record. The Browns know better than to trade Colt McCoy. The guy knows the offense and the Browns know McCoy would play his butt off for the team even after the Cleveland Browns gave McCoy the shaft in 2012.

McCoy out-played the current starting quarterback in the preseason and he still got the shaft and the Cleveland fans who hate Colt McCoy are getting the shaft each Sunday the Browns lose football games. Yes sir the Browns are keeping Colt McCoy and there is a good reason they did. Rest assured if the Cleveland Browns didn't think Colt McCoy gave the team a chance to win football games he would have been gone. That is not the case.  The Browns management know that and they keep him on the team for that reason....

One thing is for sure. People think we at Cleveland Sports 360 don't like the Browns current Q.B.. I assure you that is not the case. What we don't care for is the Browns not putting the best players on the field. Does that mean we don't think the Browns new Q.B. is a good player? No not the case. We didn't think he was ready to start in the NFL and we do think McCoy would give the Browns the better chance to win. We are left watching the team go through another losing season and we are sick and tired of losing football games. It would be nice to at the very least play a .500 season. No Matter who was throwing the football.....Chalk another one up to the Browns management....

The Browns New Owner Has To Sit Trent Richardson To Heal If He Expects To Get His Monies Worth

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Jimmy Haslam Pissed OffSince the Browns head coach doesn't have the mental capacity to make the determination about Trent Richardson's health it is time for the Browns new owner to step in and force Shurmur to sit T-Rich until he is healthy enough to come back strong.

The Cleveland Browns have a very able running back in Montario Hardesty who could step in without even missing a beat. Hardesty has already out-rushed Richardson since he has been used.
The Browns head coach knows his future is grim in Cleveland, he could care less about the long-term when it comes to the Browns roster. Shurmur already rushed Trent Richardson back from knee surgery weeks before he should have returned. Shurmur is so desperate to try to win to save his own butt, he has no regard about Richardson in the long-term.

Trent Richardson came out after the game in Indianapolis and said people have no idea how bad his ribs are hurt. Either the guy is making excuses or he is hurt worse than anyone was told. The Browns should have seen in practice if Richardson was able to compete to the best of his ability. A good coach would know his players and when they are miss-leading them.

Pat Shurmur has no experience with these kinds of situations and we all saw it last year when Colt McCoy was knocked sense-less during the Steelers game. Shurmur put McCoy back in harm's way without realizing how bad McCoy was hurt. Any coach should have been able to look in Colts eyes and seen he was not ready to return.

Jimmy Haslam has to step in and protect his investment. If he leaves a decision like this up to Pat Shurmur Trent Richardson could end up on the disabled list. There is no doubt Trent Richardson needs time to heal. A rib cage injury of any kind is a serious problem, they don't heal without rest. If this injury is as serious as Trent Richardson is saying,

Cleveland Browns Head Coach Pat Shurmur Has To Be Mentally Challenged

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Pat Shurmur sucksThe head coach of the Cleveland Browns told his team after they lost we’ve got to get ready for the San Diego Chargers next week, just like we got ready for the Colts this week after a win, we now must focus on getting ready for the Chargers after a loss.  It is almost as though Shurmur excuses his team for losing when he says things to them like, “don’t worry half the teams in the league lost today”.

When you think about the statements Shurmur makes as a head coach in the national football league, you have to wonder if the guy is mentally challenged. Pat Shurmur tells the media he doesn’t think the loss is any kind of a trend, he said it was just one loss. Is he for real? Someone needs to tell Pat Shurmur one of the things he has been the most consistent at is losing. The guy thinks because he won one football game it excuses the fact that the trend has been losing more often than not with Head Coach Pat Shurmur at the helm.

The guy is somewhat delusional. Here are the words that came out of the mouth of Shurmur following the game in Indy;

“I think that this is isolated, we lost the game,” Shurmur said. “I don’t think it talks about any trends. We’ll go back tomorrow and get ready to win the next one. I told the players last week, we made enough plays to win the game; this week, we didn’t. There were a lot of contributing factors.
Speaking of contributing factors, has Shurmur ever looked into the mirror and thought he could be the problem?

How can a guy that has gone 5-18 since taking over the head coaching job think there isn’t a trend here with his Cleveland Browns? There clearly is a trend and it isn’t a good trend, it is a losing trend and Shurmur continues to ignore it hoping it will go away.

Shurmur thinks it is fun calling the plays, he has to see he sucks as an offensive coordinator and he should surrender the job to Childress. It has to be his mental state that makes him think he is doing a good job at it. Shurmur’s record as an offensive coordinator is even worse than his head coaching record.  With Pat Shumur calling the plays he is 13-43 combining his play calling with the Rams and now the Browns.

The Cleveland Browns have some talented players; they have some guys that can make plays. There is a serious problem with the Cleveland Browns and they can win consistently until this problem is solved. They don’t have a head coach that knows how to win football games. They don’t have a head coach that can see he is the main reason the team is being held back. Until the team fixes the head coaching issue, the Cleveland Browns won’t win consistently in the NFL. This is way past the point of being funny. It is ridiculous….

Browns Fans Are Screaming For Haslam To Make A Move & It Doesn't Include Starting Colt McCoy

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

The Browns fans have reached their last straw. Seeing Pat Shurmur let his team lose to the Indianapolis Colts was more than the great people of the City of Cleveland could handle. The die-hard fans got a glimpse of a pissed off Jimmy Haslam III from the owners box at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis when the Browns were trying to score the game winning touchdown only to see the targeted receiver drop the ball.

The good people of Cleveland are calling for action from the Browns new billionaire owner. The fans want Pat Shurmur fired as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.
If Haslam is listing to the fans, he can hear the screams of that's enough. The play calling the Browns head coach uses during the games is just not getting it done. The fans can see the problems for the Cleveland Browns comes from the team's head coach. Nothing would make the fans happier than to see Jimmy Haslam make a move to replace the team's head coach.

Sure it would be like starting over for the team. The fans I have talked with don't care they want action and they don't want to wait for Shurmur to be evaluated at the end of the season, they say they have seen more than enough to know Pat Shumur isn't the guy to lead the Cleveland Browns where the team should be.

The Cleveland Browns are 1-6 under the direction of Shumur, the fans say this is the wrong direction and the team has far too much talent to have a record this bad. Since Shurmur has taken over the head coaching job of the Cleveland Browns his record is  5-18. The fans are tired of this guys poor performance and they want a change and they want it now. The main problem is Shurmur has now fire to get his team motivated. His attitude is rubbing off on the players and he offers no inspiration. Some fans say they can even imagine a 330lbs guy listening to anything Pat Shurmur says and take him seriously.

This head coach has lost his team and the fans want Jimmy Haslam III to make a change now. They want a head coach that can bring some fire to this team....

Trent Richardson 8 Attemps for 8 Yards For His Browns What A Waste Of The Number 1 Draft Pick

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Trent Richardson wasted number one pickThe Cleveland Browns certainly wasted the number one draft pick on a guy that signed a multimillion dollar contract that hasn't shown his worth.

First it was his bad left knee that certainly needed repaired and kept him away from any action in the preseason, now it is a rib cage injury that required a special pad to protect his ribs.

Against Indianapolis the great Trent Richardson rushed the football 8 times for a total of 8 yards for a one yard per carry average. Was T-Rich worth the number one draft pick?

I don't think so. Now listen up all you Browns fans, you just watched a group of front office guys waste the number one pick for your Cleveland Browns. Sure Richardson looks great of he is rushing the ball and makes it to the outside, the problem is T-Rich cannot rush the ball up the middle in the NFL and he is no threat to the other teams defense. We should have known we had problems when Richardson was surprised one guy could tackle him in the NFL.

Richardson is ranked 19th in rushing after 6 weeks in the 2012 season, not what the Cleveland Browns expected. Richardson only has one rush for over 20 yards. He has a total of 340 rushing yards after 6 weeks and if you count today he has 348 yards, not the way to become the leagues leading rusher.

Trent Richardson said he is a tough guy but we haven't seen it yet. In the past there have been plenty of running backs that played through rib injuries with flack jackets, Richardson isn't one of those guys apparently. The Browns wasted the first round pick on a guy that is fragile and may not make it through his 4 year deal. The guy has the move if he can make it to the outside, the problem is Richardson's lack of ability to break tackles to make it to the outside.

The Browns and Browns fans have to be disappointed with the performance of Trent Richardson this season. Sure there will be plenty of die-hard Browns fans to make plenty of excuses for Trent Richardson. The problem is the guy just hasn't been able to get it done in the N.F.L. thus far.

The Brandon Weeden & Pat Shumur Show Continues To Fail The Browns Fans As Cleveland Moves to 1-6

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Pat Shurmur & Brandon Weeden suckThe Cleveland Browns just lost their 6th game on the season, the team is now 1-6 with the Pat Shumur & Brandon Weeden combination. The Browns just lost their 11th game in a row on the road.

The Shumur, Weeden experiment is not working. It is time for the Browns to make a move. Since Brandon Weeden has the arm the fans seem to love, the logical move at this time would be to fire head coach pat Shurmur.

The Cleveland Browns have made no progress under Shumur's direction and he certainly doesn't deserve to finish the season as the Cleveland Browns head coach. Pat Shumur cannot inspire his troops, the Cleveland Browns at times look completely flat. The Cleveland Browns are starting to show their head coaches personality.

The team couldn't beat the Indianapolis Colts today. Not only did they lose the game, Shurmur again demonstrated his lack of confidence in his starting quarterback Brandon Weeden when the Browns scored their 2nd touchdown. The Browns should have gone for 2 points.

Pat Shumur couldn't properly coach a dog out of the middle of the street with traffic coming, the man has no clue how to win football games. His play calling is terrible. The team could have a 3rd and 8 and the Browns throw a  3 yard pass side ways.

The other teams defense know what is going to happen and the fans in the stands know what is going to happen. Why can't Pat Shurmur see he has no edge on the opposing teams? The guys ability to coach in the NFL is a joke. He has no imagination and he has no idea how to use the talent he has properly.

The Pat Shurmur and Brandon Weeden combination is now 1-6 and their chances of putting up another win in the coming weeks doesn't look good. The Browns take on the Chargers then the Ravens in their next 2 games, then the bye week. Then it is the Cowboys and the Steelers. Can you really see this team with this head coach getting a win in the teams next 4 games. The Browns could very realistically be 1-10 after their next 4 games.

The Weeden Shurmur experiment isn't working and something has to change. You could see it on Jimmy Haslam's face when they showed him in the owners box in Indianapolis this afternoon. This man wants to win football games and he is seeing it isn't going to happen with Pat Shumur at the helm calling plays for Brandon Weeden. A change has to take place.....

Will Weeden's Protection Be Lost Without Jason Pinkston Or Is John Greco Just As Able To Protect Him?

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Jason Pinkston Blood Clots One thing Browns fans have to notice is the time Brandon Weeden has had to throw the football. The Browns came into the 2012 N.F.L. season with an offensive line that left a lot of questions about Weeden's safety.

Then out of nowhere the Cleveland Browns offensive line stopped being offense and came together and played like a unit that has been together for years. They were able to protect there no so young rookie quarterback giving him time to stay on his feet and complete passes, something Colt McCoy never got last season. Weeden has had twice as much time to get rid of the ball than the line provided last season.

This week the Browns lost Jason Pinkston who has blood clots in his lungs, he was  fortunate the medical staff caught them in time otherwise Pinkston could have died. It is likely the Browns have lost Jason Pinkston for the rest of the 2012 season. Treating blood clots requires a lot of blood thinners and it is unlikely Pinkston will return to battle this season if at all. Now that Pinkston is out the Browns will use John Greco at the left guard position. Will Greco be able to provide the same protection as Pinkston did in his starting position?

I think Greco is a capable guy who has plenty of N.F.L. experience playing different spots on the offensive line.He played last week coming in and out off the bench. Greco should be able to play and give Weeden the same type of protection he is used to getting. If the Browns don't protect Brandon Weeden, the team could have trouble. Weeden tends to panic and make mistakes when he feels the pressure. He has gotten somewhat better at handling the pressure, it could be because the Browns offensive line has done an excellent job protecting him over the past couple of games.

If that protection breaks down it could bring back the panicking Brandon Weeden we saw in the first couple of games. I don't think the line will miss a step with Greco taking over for Pinkston. The line should be able to protect Weeden just as well as we saw in the Giants & Bengals game. If they do the Browns could get their second win in a row against Indy this weekend.

Lets hope the medical professionals can take great care of Jason Pinkston and he has a full recovery and is able to return to the N.F.L.. He is facing a serious health problem that is life threatening and we should all include the big man in our prayers.....

Jimmy Haslam & Joe Banner Had Their Game Faces On As Banner Took Over The Browns Today

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Joe Banner & Jimmy HaslamJimmy Haslam brought his man into Cleveland today, Haslam introduced Joe Banner the new president of the Cleveland Browns to the fans and to the media today.

Both men had their game faces on as they held their first joint press conference. Haslam has spent more time with Banner than he ever has when hiring someone to work in his primary business the Pilot Corporation. Haslam is confident Joe Banner is the right guy to run the franchise Haslam paid 1 billion dollars for.

Each and every person working for the Cleveland Browns will be under evaluation from this day until the end of the season. Banner was asked about Pat Shurmur specifically, Banner worked with Shumur in Philadelphia and he too (Shumur) is under evaluation.  The Browns have a new owner and a new President of the team. This didn't take long once the owners voted to confirm Jimmy Haslam III as the new Browns owner.

Mike Holmgren was out as soon as the vote took place and Banner was in. Jimmy Haslam is being gracious keeping Holmgren until the season end to help Banner with a smooth transition. Now that both Haslam and Banner are in Cleveland, the Browns personnel better snap to it.   Banner will be looking over everything that takes place. One thing about Joe Banner is he likes a quarterback that can move. If you look at his 19 year history with the Eagles, they always had guys that could scramble to extend the plays.

Banner started his football career with the Eagles in 1994 when an old friend of his bought the Eagles. He was promoted in 1996 to senior vice president and in 1997 from senior vice president of administration to executive vice president.

In 1994 Randall Cunningham was the Eagles starting quarterback. Randall Cunningham rushed for 288 yards that year. If you think about the guys the Eagles had at quarterback in the 19 years Banner was there they all ran with the ball extremely well. Banner had Donovan McNabb for 10 years another guy that could run with the football. Banner likes a quarterback that can get out of trouble and scramble.

Brandon Weeden doesn't fit the Joe Banner mold of starting NFL quarterbacks. Plain and simple if you can't run with the football, you better not have to with Banner watching. If you can't get out of trouble with your feet your not going to last long in the Joe Banner ran Cleveland Browns organization.

The Eagles have a long history with Joe Banner and a quarterback that can save his butt by being able to scramble. One of the reason's Holmgren could be gone is due to the fact he forced Heckert to pick Weeden a guy that can't run with the Browns pick at 22....

Montario Hardesty Told That Idiot Shurmur He Was Ready For 2012 Yesterday He Showed The Browns

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Montario Hardesty Montario Hardesty was called into action when Trent Richardson fell to an injury against the Bengals. Hardesty scored his first touchdown of his NFL career and he rushed for a full 1.1 yards per carry more than the Browns number one draft choice Trent Richardson.

Sure you could argue that the Bengals defense was wearing down. The fact is Hardesty hasn't had a touch all season for the Cleveland Browns thanks to head coach Pat Shurmur.
Hardesty came into the 2012 season in the best playing shape of his career. He showed the Browns brain trust he could rush the football. The head coach took an instant disliking to Montario when he put the ball on the ground in a preseason game.

If Shurmur would have played Hardesty through some of the other games, not only would he have kept Richardson fresh the Browns may have been able to keep the defenses guessing and who knows maybe the Browns would have a better record than 1-5 now. Hardesty had something to prove this season. It is his first season in the NFL being healthy. The head coach of the Cleveland Browns was doing his best to keep Hardesty from showing what he could do in the NFL.

With Jimmy Haslam taking over ownership of the team on Tuesday, you can almost bet you are going to see more of Montario Hardesty in the coming games. Jimmy Haslam the third likes the guy who had an outstanding career at Tennessee. We al know what Tennessee meant to Haslam and to see a guy who played inspirational football at Tennessee go out and do it for the Cleveland Browns has to be a great feeling not only for Montario Hardesty, but for Jimmy Haslam too.

Hardesty finished the game with 15 carries for 56 yards and one touchdown, his long run of the day was for 14 yards. T-Rich finished his day with 37 yards rushing on 14 carries and one long of 8 yards. Hardesty had a 3.7 yard average to Richardson's   2.6 yard per carry average. To have a talent on your team like Hardesty and not to use him in any games until you are 0-5 is just one more reason the Browns head coach Pat Shurmur has to go.

All The Browns Problems Can Be Linked To The Fact That Shumur Says He Gets It When He Really Doesn't!!!

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

The Cleveland Browns will face the Cincinnati Bengals in just a matter of hours. People all over the city of Cleveland don't know what to expect, the Browns are facing one more could set a franchise record with 12 losses in a row dating back to last season.

The Cleveland Browns problems can be traced back to Mike Holmgren naming Pat Shurmur as the Cleveland Browns head coach after Holmgren fired Eric Mangini. That's when the Browns current problems really got started.

The head coach of the Cleveland Browns has said he gets it. Really? Is he kidding us? This IDIOT that the Browns are paying millions too says he gets it. There is no way in hell we can accept that statement to heart.

The Cleveland Browns and the great fans have a coach in Cleveland that calls people on the phone who don't accept Shurmur as the Gospel of NFL coaching. What in the heck is he doing?   When he should thinking of ways to win football games, he is listening to what the media is saying about him and then sending out E-Mails and making phone calls. How much time is this moron Holmgren calls a football coach wasting doing that?

Then the team is stuck with a coach that plays LOTTO BALL. What is LOTTO BAll you ask? You know Shurmur's way of play calling, lets throw the ball as far down the field as you can and if someone gets lucky and the ball lands in their hands and they hold onto it you win. You get a chunk of yardage and you get to see your team get into the red zone and fail to find the end zone most of the time. But geez, didn't that one pass look pretty?

Handing the ball to the Browns overall number one 2012 draft pick Trent Richardson and watching him run threw tackles and pick up first downs don't look as pretty as watching balls sailing threw the air and falling incomplete most of the time far outshines the running game in Shurmur's eyes.

Until the Cleveland Browns can find a head coach that gets it without continually telling anyone who will listen he gets it, the Browns and the Cleveland fans are going to continue to suffer. Sure Shurmur may win a game or two or maybe even three. But is he the kind of coach that is going to turn into a multiple Super Bowl winner?

I really don't think so and the main reason is Shurmur certainly doesn't get it and he may never get it. Life doesn't run on a script. Each day things happen where you have to deviate from the script. To do that you have to be able to think on your feet. You have to have common sense. You have to be able to admit that just maybe, you don't have all the answers.

Pat Shurmur isn't the guy that can do that. If the Browns lose to the Bengals, Jimmy Haslam should cut his losses and replace Pat Shumur as the Browns head coach as soon as the NFL owners vote in Haslam's favor on Tuesday. Then the fans in Cleveland can say, Shumur gets it.  His walking papers that is....

Will Browns Cornerback Joe Haden Have an Answer For Bengals Receiver A.J. Green This Year?

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Joe Haden Gets Burned by A.J. GreenThe Browns will see the return of corner-back Joe Haden this Sunday as the battle of Ohio returns to the Cleveland Browns stadium.

The fans and the team has missed Haden in the Cleveland secondary, that's for sure. The return of Haden in time to take on the Bengals could be just what the team needs to avoid setting a franchise record of 12 losses in a row dating back to last season that include the 3 starts back-up quarterback Seneca Wallace played in.
The Bengals have a very solid core of receivers that Andy Dalton spreads out his passes to. Last season when the Browns played the Bengals we saw one of those wide receivers beat Joe Haden on several plays. A.J. Green is a guy that is very difficult to stop.

Green has the ability to make the spectacular catch, even if it is at the expense of the best defensive player on the Browns roster. Joe Haden has had a problem covering the 6 foot 4 wide receivers the Bengals love to throw the ball to. Green has 36 receptions in the 5 games he played this season for 493 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Green has an average of 13.7 yards per reception, if Joe Haden can return after not playing for a month and shut down A.J. Green it would be a big help to the Browns defense. Speaking of the Cleveland defense the fans have to wonder which Browns defense will show up this weekend. In the Browns 5 losses this season we have only see the Cleveland Browns play good defense in 2 games.

The other 3 games the Browns couldn't stop their opponents from running the football straight down their throats. Cleveland gave up 200 yards rushing to one player in New York. They have to stop the Bengals from controlling the tempo of the game and running the ball.

If Haden's return can help Cleveland stop the Bengals from running the ball all over the Browns, then Cleveland just may have a chance to get their first win on the season. Lets hope the return of Joe Haden is the spark the Cleveland Browns defense needs... Nobody wants to see the Browns set a franchise record of 12 losses in a row...

OK It's Time For Mike Holmgren To Stop Counting His Money & Save Shurmur,He's Failing Miserablely

Written By Larry M. Glicken "LG"

Pat Shurmur & Mike Holmgren get firedRemember last season when Mike Holmgren came rushing to the rescue of his boy Pat Shurmur when the Cleveland Browns didn't handle the Colt McCoy brain concussion correctly?

It is now time for the resurgence of Mike Holmgren, his friend Pat Shurmur the head coach he hand picked is about to have a nervous break down.   Shurmur is already to the point of verbally abusing the  Cleveland media. He is in way over his head and has no business being a head coach in the National Football League. Holmgren knew that when he hired the guy who couldn't cut it in St. Louis.

Funny thing about the St. Louis Rams, they turned things around, could it be because Shurmur is no longer with the team? Mike Holmgren hired Pat Shurmur in a awful hurry after he fired Eric Mangini.

Could this have been another example of Holmgren's exploitation of  Randy Learners check book? It is bad enough they are paying Mike Holmgren 8 million dollars a year for not doing much, now the Cleveland Browns have a head coach on the  payroll that takes handfuls of money I am sure for not doing much. These guys are like thieves, they take money for not doing anything.

Could you imagine going to work and not getting your job done correctly week after week after week? How long would you be employed?  Now we have Pat Shumur taking his failures out on the Cleveland Media. When Shumur was asked about Trent Richardson's absence last Friday he lost it and started dropping F bombs all over the place. Holmgren better get in here and save his buddies nephew.

But no, Mike Holmgren is letting Pat Shurmur hang himself alone. He is nowhere to be seen these days. Is it because he knows his days are numbered in Cleveland too? I really doubt Jimmy Haslam is going to put up with one of his people responding to the Cleveland Media the way Pat Shurmur is doing it. Shurmur is on way over his head and he has Mike Holmgren to thank for that. Holmgren threw Shurmur into the fire and has done very little besides collecting his 8 million dollars a year. It is way past time to clean house in the Browns front office.
